Participating for the fourth consecutive year, a team of five tough ISG and Commtech Asia members in Hong Kong joined an annual fundraising run, ‘Lap Dog Challenge 2019’.
The event was held on 2 November at the Stanley Ho Sports Institute’s athletic track at Sandy Bay.
This year, 40 runners from eight industry-leading companies including ISG and Commtech Asia, Gammon, WT Partnership, Leighton, Hip Hing and Dragages participated in the challenge. The runners attempted to complete as many laps of a 400m running track as they could within five hours, which would directly influence the amount of funds to be raised. A fantastic 3,422 laps were completed in total, raising HK$1.6m for the charity.
The ISG-Commtech team completed an incredible 442 laps and a combined distance of 177km, successfully raising HK$0.3m to contribute to the total amount of funds raised throughout the event.
All funds raised were donated to support The Lighthouse Club Hong Kong Benevolent Fund, a registered charity that provides financial assistance to those working in the Hong Kong construction industry who have fallen victim to accident or illness, as well as their families.
As one of the runners, managing director, Tim Threlkeld said: “It was never easy to keep running for five hours around a 400m athletic track, but our team persisted to be part of this meaningful event for the fourth year as we care about all industry peers who are in need. The event gave us a good opportunity to help the beneficiaries, while tested our mental and physical strengths as a team. The event wouldn’t be successful without the support of all sponsors, and we highly appreciate their generous donations to make this happen.”
